Raleigh – NCDP Chairman Wayne Goodwin released the following statement on breaking the Republican supermajority:

“North Carolina Democrats have had our eyes set on one goal – breaking the Republican supermajority and electing a legislature that will work with Governor Cooper to invest more in education, expand access to affordable health care and support working families. Thanks to Governor Cooper’s leadership, a diverse slate of candidates, and the support of North Carolinians across the state, we have reached our goal.

“North Carolina sent a loud message tonight to Republicans in the General Assembly that they are tired of backroom, secretive deal-making that has put special interests ahead of what’s best for regular people. Lawmakers should listen to the will of the people when they return to Raleigh through productive, bipartisan governing, not one more final, last gasp power grab.”
