Equal Rights Amendment

Join us for a showing of the film Legalize Equality followed by a panel discussion with ERA-NC Alliance representatives Roberta Madden & Jimmie Cochran Pratt.

Meeting with be held at BCDP Headquarters, 951 Old Fairview Rd, Asheville 28803
Registration will begin at 5:15, dinner at 5:30, and the program to follow after at 6:00. Dinner cost is $12 for members and $15 for non-members, payable at the event. To RSVP, please fill out our form:

Roberta Madden has worked for the Equal Rights Amendment for 47 years.

Robbie is co-director of RATIFY ERA-NC and past co-president and current ex-officio board member of ERA-NC Alliance. She is an active member of AAUW-Asheville, Business and Professional Women, League of Women Voters, NOW, NAACP, and Women’s Forum of NC.  In 2015, NC Women United honored her with the Anne Mackie Award for her lifetime advocacy for equality and commitment to improving women’s lives.

Support local candidates and renew your DWBC membership  or become a member at the March Meeting. Dues are $25 per year. In addition to supporting Democratic candidates, you receive a reduced dinner price at monthly meetings.

Jimmie Cochran Pratt is a native of Haywood County, NC.  She has spent her professional life in higher education with an emphasis in fund development and career & leadership development. Jimmie is retired and a community/political activist and is currently Vice President for Fundraising & Action Team Leader for Congressional District 10, ERA-NC Alliance.

Upcoming Events:

On Tuesday, March 5th, bills calling for the ratification of the Equal Rights Amendment will be introduced in both the House and the Senate of the NC General Assembly. You are invited to join other ERA allies in Raleigh. For specific details, please go to the ERA-NC Alliance website.
