District 3 County Commissioner Democratic Candidate Forum
When: Thu, March 29, 6pm – 8pm
Description: Each candidate will have 5 minutes to make a speech outlining their platform. We will then open the floor to Q&A from the audience. Candidates are Catori Swann, Arden, Donna Ensley, Arden, and Taylon Breeden, Leicester. We’ll provide food and drinks so you don’t miss dinner! Children are welcome, though we cannot provide childcare due to space restrictions.
Precinct 42.1 Get Out the Vote Meeting

Description: Join your fellow precinct 42.1 members to discuss recent phone banking experiences. New phone lists will be distributed. We’ll meet in the Earth Fare cafeteria.

Veterans Restoration Quarters Food Service
When: Wed, April 11, 9:30am – 12:30pm
Description: BCDP has elected to help prep and serve food every second Wednesday, 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Three to 5 volunteers are needed each shift (we have 3 “regulars”). The residents and staff are very appreciative and the volunteers find the time spent very rewarding. Walking, standing and occasionally some lifting is required.
Senior Dems Monthy Meeting

Democracy 101: BCDP Officers
Six Buncombe County Democratic Party officers are elected to two-year terms at the county convention in odd-numbered years to handle day to day operations of the party. The current officers were elected at the 2017 convention with Ellen Costanzo recently elected to fill the vacant 3rd Vice Chair. Following is a summary of their responsibilities.
||Jeffrey Rose, the County Party Chair, is responsible for overall operations of the party, working to ensure Democratic victories county-wide.
||Denise Marecki, the 1st Vice Chair, is responsible for precinct and cluster organization, as well as Get Out The Vote (GOTV) operations for elections.
||Catherine Mitchell, the 2nd Vice Chair, coordinates the county party training committee, identifying needs and developing programs to provide precinct officers with necessary training to meet their goals.
||Ellen Costanzo, the 3rd Vice Chair, coordinates oversight and development of county communications.
||Michael Vavrek, the Secretary, maintains all records of the party, including membership and meeting minutes.
||Keith Thomson, the Treasurer, manages financial record-keeping and financial disclosure reporting for the county party.
