Veterans’ Restoration Food Service

When: Wednesday, June 14, 9:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
Where: ABCCM Veterans Restoration Quarters, 1329 Tunnel Rd. (map)
Description: BCDP has elected to help prep and serve food every second Wednesday, 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Three to 5 volunteers are needed each shift (we have 3 “regulars”). The residents and staff are very appreciative and the volunteers find the time spent very rewarding.

Precinct 8.2 Monthly Meeting

Precinct 15.1 Monthly Meeting

Description:  City Councilwoman (and 15.1 resident) Julie Mayfield has agreed to talk with us about current issues before Asheville City Council and the upcoming council elections later this year. Bring your questions/comments for Julie as we’ll focus on voter engagement with City Council.

This meeting will be held at Westwood Co-housing Common House at 43 Vermont Court. Please note- On-street parking is very, very limited in this neighborhood. Please consider walking or carpooling. Spaces labeled ‘Visitor Parking’ should be reserved for those with limited mobility. Additional parking at West Asheville Park (198 Vermont Ave) is available, about a 5-10 min walk.

NC State Veterans’ Home Volunteers

When:  Tuesday, June 20, 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Description:  Now First and Third Tuesdays from 10-12 beginning June 6th.  We will join morning groups and do 1-on-1 visits as before.  Visits are also possible during the day for those of us who have completed orientation. Linda Brinson the Activity Director at the facility will conduct another orientation group later in June.

Democratic Men’s Club Breakfast

Join the Democratic Men’s Club of Buncombe County – annual membership is $100 for one person, and a spouse/other family member may join for an additional $50. All money raised will help elect Democratic candidates.
